a lamentation for innocence

a lamentation for innocence

when i was a child
i believed

i believed in God
in the Flag
in Freedom

i spake as a child
and acted accordingly

but gradually
the scales fell from my eyes
(O that they were still there and i had my innocence)
the scales fell from my eyes
and i saw through all the lies

and now
no longer believing the fairy tales of my youth
no longer believing in anything
i speak as a Man

where only those that still believe
the lies that they are fed
can find succor

and i lament

  1. Another word for innocence is ignorance, for the child this is okay for they need ignorance to grow in security, but when adulthood comes then ignorance is a curse allowing the parasitic authority figure to rape and destroy you.
